The Glazine has been talking to Andrew Scott, managing director of Insight Data, about the new Market Report published by the company this week.

“The Report follows research carried out with over 15,000 fabricators and installers in the UK, and it shows the number of companies has increased for the first time in five years and now stands at 15,137.

PVC-U fabricators have continued to decline but as a result of this, and a general upturn in the market, volume per fabricator has increased. It is interesting that 283 PVC-U fabricators now also manufacture aluminium windows and doors.

One of the major trends to emerge is the increase in general builders offering home improvement products such as windows and doors. This has increased dramatically to over 20,000 across the UK and many of these builders already have relationships with homeowners and are winning contracts under the radar.

The Report makes essential reading for anyone with an interest in the industry and is available free of charge.  It is also accompanied by an Infographic that gives a summary of the industry in graphical form.”
